Accused by police of speeding at 173 mph, Tex O'Reily avoided the sin bin after proving that his Elise could not possibly go that fast. Lotus provided evidence that a stock Elise has a top speed of 127 mph, which is far under the speed he was accused of.
O'Reilly was fined £5,000 and given a two-year driving ban. His Elise has also been sold, to persons unknown in Germany.
Wonder what sort of conversion would have gotten him to that sort of speed?
