Simon Erland- reasons for Mark Bowles engine failure

It has been rumored for some time now that one of the very rew, vanishingly rare, Simon Erland engines has had some problems based on its design and installation. The engine in question went into Mark Bowles elise and was claimed as a prime example of the very best in K series tuning. The only [...]

Pictures of Doug Setters engine

Predictably enough, it’s not pretty. The pistons and head show significant damage from detonation, they are really only fit for the scrap bin now.

The offending 3.13″ pulley (shown in comparison with Std ones)

The figures are from the TDI dyno which reads about 8% lower than the Abbey dyno which Link-Up publish most of their figures on. [...]

Sinclairs SC honda blow ups

So the reasons behind why the Sinclairs SC honda (Kell and Doug) blew up so tragically are starting to emerge.
In hindsight its pretty obvious.
The pulley on Doug Setters car was 3.13″. This equates to some 12psi. With no charge or intercooler so making no attempt to control the charge temps. It was making ~284bhp (flange) [...]

Turbo Charged Honda Lotus Exige

There are plenty of turbo charged honda k20 installs floating around but I have not seen one in an elise or exige yet. Until now. Check out http://www.stuttgartnines.co.uk/upload/showthread.php?t=5301.
Not sure of any details but its claimed to be aiming for 550bhp. Who needs a boot anyway.
Can’t wait to see how they manage to stop that install [...]
