AJK – the dangers of falling out of bed with your supplier

Mr Kell has been snipping away at Link-up for some time now but was hard to figure out why, lots of very happy customers of link-up no other great blow ups etc. Obviously the guy had some issue but it never seemed to emerge what it actually was.

What seems to be emerging is that back in the summer of '07 he was having problems with killing manifolds and lost 3. Its an SC install so probably due to bouncing of the limiter which leaves the charger still spinning away merrily. Its also looks like he melted a lambda leading to a MIL. Shit happens. So were did it go so horribly wrong that he ended up with a different supplier and three dead engines later - talk about frying pan into the fire, blowing holes in pistons has got be be a rather expensive hobby.

Apparently simply because he felt that Simon (he of link-up) did not show him enough respect and fix his car and had the gall to suggest that the manifold fix might be approached from a slightly different angle ("stop bouncing it off the limiter you cock") he never wanted anything to do with him or his products ever again. This obviously puts MSC (his direct supplier) in a tricky situation as Simon handles aspect of ongoing support - especially the ECU and mapping which he owns and locks down.

So off he flounces to Sinclairs for a new ECU and map and were does he end up - melting pistons and killing engines. The moral of this tale - better to swallow your pride than engine replacement bills.

And think before you send that letter.
