Tesla have revealed in a recent SEC filing that its cars such as the Lotus Elise based Tesla Roadster will lose as much as 40 per cent of their nominal battery capacity after driving only 100,000 miles,as they start out with a pretty unimpressive range anyway and recarging is a slow process this could render them practically unuseable. Basically, a used Tesla Roadster could end up with a range of no more than 110 gentle miles (on a full charge) before its batteries run flat. As previous testing has shown, driven enthusiastically this could mean a range of less that 20 miles.
This "may negatively influence potential customer decisions whether to purchase our vehicles" in future, apparently.
